ABOUT 2F3

2s Frees 3s™ is much more than a free throw, dunk, or three-point contest.
It’s a nationwide shooting competition open to everyone, competing on an even playing field, in the same competition!

  • Shooters compete in their respective age divisions at the Regional level.

  • All shooters with a score of 11 or higher advance to Sectionals.

  • The top 5 scores in each division advance to State Finals, where State Champions are crowned!

2s Frees 3s™ was founded in 2022 by Steve Novak & Brian Lammi, childhood friends who shared a passion for basketball. Steve, among the top ten 3-point shooters in NBA History, was inspired by the drills he used to develop his own shooting stroke. Since its launch, 2f3 has continued to grow, hosting competitions across Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota, New York, and Arizona.

  • Co-Founder, 2s FREEs & 3s
    NBA Legend

Steve Novak is a Milwaukee basketball icon and one of the most accurate three-point shooters in NBA history. A native of Brown Deer, Wisconsin, he first rose to national prominence at Marquette University, where he helped lead the Golden Eagles to the Final Four in 2003 and finished his collegiate career as the school’s all-time leader in three-pointers made.

During his 11-season NBA career, Steve played for nine different teams, most notably the New York Knicks, where he led the league in three-point percentage (47.2%) during the 2011–2012 season. Known for his "Championship Belt" celebration—a nod to his Wisconsin roots and Aaron Rodgers—he became a fan favorite for his elite perimeter shooting and high basketball IQ.

Off the court, Steve is the founder and designer of 2s, FREEs & 3s™, a unique shooting competition billed as "The Ultimate Shooting Competition." Designed to be the "Great Equalizer," the event allows players of all ages, genders, and abilities—including an adaptive division—to compete on an even playing field.

After retiring from the court in 2017, Steve transitioned into broadcasting, serving as an analyst for the Milwaukee Bucks for eight years before joining MSG Networks in 2025. He remains deeply involved in philanthropy, specifically with the MACC Fund, and resides in the Milwaukee area with his wife, Christina, and their three children.

IMPACT

“First I find it imperative to express some gratitude. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity. What a beautiful way to compete on a basketball court.”

“I have been a varsity basketball coach for the past 15 years and have competed at the highest levels this state has to offer. 2s Frees 3s now goes down as one of the best experiences I've had on a basketball court in my life. I got to compete with my daughter at all three levels…Regionals, Sectionals and State Finals. We got to witness an incoming 8th grade girl win it all, and this was after we competed on the same stage as several Adaptive athletes (I have a son with some severe needs).”

“During a time where it seems we have completely lost our minds when it comes to athletics and competition, to say this was a breath of fresh air would be a drastic understatement. Thanks to all of those involved in making this come to life.”
